MED SPA FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a medical spa and a regular spa?
The difference between medical spas and regular spas is that medical spas are overseen by medical professionals and offer a wider variety of treatments than regular spas. The treatments offered at medical spas are also more involved, using the latest technology to resurface skin, rejuvenate collagen production, shed fat, and more.
What type of treatments do med spas offer?
Medical spas offer a variety of treatment types. As aesthetic specialists, we treat conditions like acne, acne scarring, enlarged pores, melasma, rosacea, loose skin, stretch marks, sun damage, unwanted hair, wrinkles, even excess sweating. We address these through treatments such as Botox® injections, dermal filler injections, BBL facials, laser facials, medical-grade chemical peels and more.
How are med spa treatments different from plastic surgery?
Med spa treatments differ from plastic surgery because they are minimally or noninvasive. While med spa treatments and plastic surgery procedures often address the same aesthetic concerns, med spa treatments offer a less aggressive approach for people who are unwilling or unable to undergo surgery. For example, we offer the ArqueDerma® liquid facelift instead of a surgical facelift. It offers similar results and a rejuvenating affect by stimulating your bodies natural collagen production. A surgical facelift gives more dramatic results, but involves incisions and significant downtime.
Do you offer financing on medical spa treatments?
When people consider medical spa treatment, cost and budget rank highly in the list of concerns. West Linn Aesthetics believes cost should not stand in someone's way when they're pursuing their aesthetic goals. Our easy-to-apply-for payment plan offers 6 months of interest-fee payments so you can easily fit your desired treatments into your budget.
What should I look for in a medical spa?
It's very important you know what to look for in a medical spa. With so many med spas all over the place, you want to ensure you're visiting a qualified and experienced practice. Getting answers to the following questions helps to determine the quality of the med spa you're considering:
- Is the med spa supervised by an involved medical professional?
- What kinds of services do they offer and how much experience do they have performing those services?
- What do their online reviews say and how many reviews do they have?
- Do they have customer service that makes you feel comfortable and confident in their care?
- Are their facilities pristine?
Does insurance cover Botox® or other med spa treatments?
In almost no circumstances does medical insurance cover Botox® or other medical spa treatments. In certain instances, insurance may cover Botox® for sweating. You should reach out to your insurance company if you suffer from hyperhidrosis and want to seek treatment via Botox® injections.
Can anyone who works at a med spa perform treatments?
Anyone who works at a med spa CANNOT perform treatments. Performing laser facials, injections, and other types of med spa treatments requires appropriate training and certification and should still be overseen by the medical professional.
Are medical spas only for female patients?
No! Medical spas are not only for female patients. We get a lot of men who come in for treatments like Botox®, Dysport®, BBL hair removal, and many other aesthetic treatments. Men are just as susceptible to aging as women, and they're just as entitled to not be satisfied with the way they're aging. At West Linn Aesthetics, we provide a comfortable and caring environment for men, women, and those who identify as nonbinary.
Why should I choose West Linn Aesthetics over other area med spas?
The patients who choose West Linn Aesthetics over other area med spas do so because of our commitment to education, excellence, and providing an incredible customer experience. Our providers undergo more advanced trainings each year than many med spa practitioners undergo throughout the life of their business. Furthermore, our founder Jerilyn Hanson, RN, MBA, Certified Advanced Injector, is the main provider of anti-aging, nonsurgical procedures and uses her advanced knowledge of facial anatomy to achieve outstanding results.
